Martindale has conducted attorney rankings since 1887 with the goal of informing the public of the most skilled and ethical attorneys. Nominations for a Martindale ranking are made via peer reviews, require at least 10 years of practice, and are awarded only to “attorneys who are ranked at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards by their peers.” Less than 15% of lawyers are awarded this distinction.
